A Year In Review...

Merry Christmas to ALL!!

It was a fun filled, eventful year for Natalie and Trent. The year started off in the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland. On the evening of January 1st, in front of the princess castle at about midnight, Trent asked Natalie to be his princess. The first thing that Natalie said was “are you serious?” followed closely by “did you ask my dad?” Clearly Natalie was a little caught off guard and is very conscious of her family and making sure everyone feels a part and is happy. After that she accepted and then the phone calls began. At a little after 1:00 a.m. Utah time Natalie called mom. Mom answered the phone by asking if Natalie knew what time it was; to which Natalie responded, “It’s time to plan a wedding.” The next 5 months were spent busily planning a wedding while doing all of the normal stuff that life entails.

In May, Natalie graduated from the University of Utah with her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. What a fun experience it was for her. She even got to sit by this “really tall guy” throughout the ceremony. Natalie was sitting by her friend and her friend didn’t know who this really tall guy was. As it turns out it was Luke Nevill of the University of Utah’s basketball team.

The next exciting thing that happened for Natalie and Trent was that in May they went to Hawaii with Trent’s family. They had an amazing time, and the scenery was so beautiful. From the hotel room they could look out and see the beach and the ocean. One day Trent played golf with his brother and father and Natalie played on the beach with Trent’s sisters. It was one of the main highlights of the trip for Trent. Another day they went on a catamaran trip along the coast of the island of Kauai. And another day they went and found a waterfall with a rope swing. Trent and Natalie both went off of the swing and fell into the pond about 40 feet below. This was one of the main highlights for Natalie. Other than that there was just a lot of hanging out and catching some sun. The day that we flew home, we flew to Honolulu and drove past the temple and Trent was able to see a couple of missionaries from his mission that live in Hawaii so that was a lot of fun for him.

After another month and what seemed like one continuous wedding shower, June had finally arrived. On June 6, Natalie went through the newly dedicated Draper temple to receive her endowment. Then, on June 13, 2009 Trent and Natalie were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake temple. It was an amazing experience to be in the temple with most of our family and friends and share in these special days together. When we came out of the temple the weather was a little overcast, but the sun was still shining so we got some great pictures. After that family and friends gathered together at the Lion House for a wedding lunch. During the lunch it was pouring rain outside. As we drove home we drove through “hurricane Utah” as Natalie likes to call it. There was lots of conversation over whether or not the reception should be moved from outside to a church, but after a couple of phone calls the decision was to risk it and go with outside as originally planned. Prayers were answered and the weather ended up being beautiful all night long. It ended up being the perfect end to the perfect day.

For their honeymoon Trent and Natalie drove to Palm Springs and spent the week in their own villa overlooking the hotel’s golf course. While they were there they hung out by the pool, went shopping, and rode a 360* tram up the mountain. Another fun thing that they did was go the Los Angeles Dodgers game. While neither Trent nor Natalie are big baseball fans, it was a fun experience to be at the stadium that is set on a hill above everything else in the city. On the way home from the game they drove past the Staples Center where the Lakers had just won the NBA championship. They never would have guessed that it was in such a sketchy part of town.

In the end of August, Trent and Natalie both started back to school, Natalie for her Masters in education as well as her teaching license, and Trent still for his bachelor’s degree. While going to school their schedules are as busy as ever. Trent is taking 15 credit hours of school while working 35 hours a week for Zions Bank ATM department so that the bills can get paid. Natalie is going to school, doing her student teaching, and somehow still finding time to work 18 hours a week. Since school started they have spent most nights on the couch with their laptops doing homework. Amazingly they have been able to finish all of their homework even with all of the busy schedules that they have had.

They have also found time to do some fun things like go to movies or hang out with friends. They even found time to go to Natalie’s favorite past time, Disney On Ice- the Princess Classics. During what seemed like the finale because all of the skaters were coming out and bowing, Natalie was really concerned because Cinderella, her favorite princess, had not shown up yet. But never fear that was just intermission, and the whole second half of the program was about Cinderella.

Other than that, Trent and Natalie are looking forward to the holidays so that they can have a break from school and have time to just relax and spend time together and with their family and friends.

WE MADE IT!!

Well 4 months later we made it through school!! I can't believe I am to my last semester of my licensure program. Given I still have until April 2011 to finish my graduate degree but Mrs. Young here I come. Starting January 4th I am going to be student teaching full time. I am so excited to be working in 3rd grade for 7 weeks followed by kindergarten for 7 weeks! It will be a challenging semester but in all new ways!
Trent completed one more semester of school and is finally enjoying relaxing well sorta. Work is stressful too! So if you can't beat, just keep playing right?

Now onto the next step what do we do for Christmas? Guess we'll find out in a week! After that I am heading to California followed shortly by Trent! We are going with my Family to Disneyland, Lego Land and San Deigo! I am so excited to get away and to have my love join me on our one year anniversary of being engaged! I can't believe it has already been a year.
Not only that....

WE'VE BEEN MARRIED 6 MONTHS!!
It has been the best six months! We are still getting use to each others quirks! But I can say I love Trent more and more each day!!

Well as you can probably tell I am out of creative ways to write! (8 Papers can do that to ya!) But we are living large (Literally gaining weight!) and love Life!!

This is our Dining room! See the Curio in the corner, Trent Surprised me with that for my graduation!
This is our side table slash book shelf. It is tons of fun to decorate and intermix boxes in!
Yes! This is an old fashion popcorn machine, and in my opinion the only way to go! I decided to surprise Trent with it for the wedding. I think it was the first time I truly shocked him!
Here is part of our living room! I love our rug, we got it on sale at BBB!
So I bought these colanders specifically for this! and my sweet sister Heidi is an amazing cross stitcher and made us that awesome hot pad! I love it!
This is the corner hutch in our dining room! It is Heidi and Dave's but they are letting us store it for them while they are in Michigan!
Our comfy couches!
More Living room!
and last but not least our amazing pastel bathroom! Gotta love the 50's or 60's who knows! I do love it though!

That's our home!!

PARK CITY!!!

This past weekend was so much fun!
Trent and I were able to go to Park City and just relax! Trent didn't have homework and I put mine off and we just didn't worry about a thing! It was so nice! Thanks Jill and Dave for letting us come up and play!
We were able to go to the 2002 Olympic park. I had never been there so it was really cool to see! Trent's Parents also took us on the Alpine Coaster! If you haven't been on it! GO!! It is so much fun!
Check out our fun pictures!

My amazing Sisters!

So my dad wrote this song for my sisters to sing to me on our wedding day!
It took them a few months later to actually do it but
I LOVE IT!!
It makes me cry just thinking about it!
I love my sisters so much!
I miss not getting to be with them all the day! I miss Kj and mines late night talks! I miss hearing Heidisms all the time! I miss talking to Holly all night about who knows what!

So here it is and you can see why I love them so much!!

The Lyrics

As sisters of Natalie

We all lived together

Sharing our wardrobe

And even her shoes

We argued like sisters

But all was forgiven

As we all love each other

Forever it’s true

We have a dear Brother

Who loves to tease us

And someday we hope to

Get even with him

But we love him dearly

Cause he is our elder

And the only one able to bring

Forth sons

We all learned to dance

and to sing as children

Our parents were patient

with our demands

Vacations have helped us

To grow as a family

As we tendered the road trips

In our minivan

Now we have our spouses

Except for dear Kjersti

And we are eternally blessed

To have them

We’re raising our children

As we are expected

To follow examples of

Mother and dad

Now Trent we give counsel

To be ever patient

With Natalie you will need plenty of that

For she can be gentle and

Fulfill all your wishes

But when she is tired

You better take care!

We welcome this new one

Into our dear family

We know Trent and Natalie

Have chosen the plan

Now we five you our love

Best wishes forever

As you grow together eternally one!

Sitting at home...

Ok so weird I am sitting at home on a MONDAY morning!
So I am teaching private Phonics, Music, and Active Adventures classes at my work. They are special classes that the parents have to sign their children up for. They are about $75 to $100 extra a month. So my boss silly him hired another Dance teacher in which the school is getting no money from. Her classes are $25 a month. So which would you sign your child up for I wonder?
Well today My boss booked my music room for the new dance class! oh and my kids! I was not sure what to do so I asked him. He told me to teach my class outside. Well that would work IF there was a sounds system outside. Oh but wait my kids are in her class too. So what I am out a job now? Nope he is paying me for my hours but my kids in the music class miss out!
He told me himself that he was dumb and didn't think it through oh and he said, "Kill me for it!" I just had to laugh cause well who says that when so many people are mad at him and probably would wanna hurt him! I just wonder what is happening at that place.

So here I am sitting at home until my class and getting paid for it! SWEET HUH!!

SCHOOL STARTED...A WEEK AGO!!

Well I started as a student teacher at Grant elementary last week! It has been way fun getting to know the teachers! Today was the first day we had kids! Kindergarten was just testing and assessments! It was so fun to meet a few kids! But mostly busy work! WHICH IS GETTING OLD! Have you ever had to Bind Journals by hand it sucks!! But I am trying my hardest to work hard so I can get a great letter of recommendation for the future! I can't wait until it is my turn to have my own classroom! Decorate my own bulletin boards and door! One of my favorite things is walking around the school and seeing all the different themes! The teacher's I am working with have bugs and frogs! I love both! The KINDER BUGS and the 3rd Grade Frogs! It is so fun! I can't wait to come up with my own themes! Did I say that already! Anyway! I was thinking a Jungle Theme, or Rain Forest, or African, or something with lots of animals with an Elephant!

I guess the hardest part of this week is having Trent leave before me! I don't like being back in school! But I am making the most of it! Just Smile and Laugh and everything goes GREAT!
